Too often we are distracted by the worries of our world; family, work, relationships. Days turns into weeks and we forget to stop and take a moment to breathe. Often we make time to celebrate other peoples achievements, but fail to take time to celebrate self. Take a few moments to think about all you have overcome this year alone. Then consider that every responsibility has been accomplished while negotiating the uncertainty of COVID-19. Each of your life's responsibilities has required adjustments to an unseen threat for you and your family. We all have our personal stories and struggles. During this time we have rightfully honored healthcare and all essential workers for continuing to help us keep our world in motion. True heroes that deserve our gratitude.
But, now as the world comes to terms with this ongoing threat and new rules are being defined it is time to honor you! Something you may struggle to do, but a necessity that is long overdue. You are essential too. Reflect on this message for a moment and consider spending just a few minutes each day reinforcing it.
What makes you special? Share the answer with yourself in the mirror or jot it down. Yes, the world is still in turmoil, but think of everything you have overcome to date. You have made important adjustments through a pandemic. You have had to re-prioritize and assimilate a lot of emotion through the past months. The world didn't stop, but it sure felt like it did. You may have suffered some very real trauma as a result of COVID-19. Whether it was physical illness, financial challenge, parenting issues... each of us has been impacted. Your Spirit didn't break, but it may have come close. And now as the world tries to find its balance it is imperative you do the same. Consider the following:
